How stainless steel jewelry goes from design to repeatable production.

The final look is only one part of the job. Process selection determines which details survive production, how tooling is used, what MOQ is commercially sensible, how long development takes and where the cost sits.

01 · Production Flow

A commercial jewelry process is a chain of decisions.

Changing one step can change the next. A deeper texture can affect polishing. A more complex structure can require assembly. A different alloy can change sourcing MOQ. That is why we review the whole route before confirming a quotation.

STEP 01

Design & feasibility

Review dimensions, structure, details, stones, logo, finish, target quantity and intended market.

STEP 02

Material & blank

Select the base material and suitable starting form. 304 is the mainstream ready-stock choice; 316/316L may require a higher production commitment.

STEP 03

Shape creation

Use stamping/forming, laser, CNC, casting or a mixed route according to geometry and scale.

STEP 04

Machining & forming

Create holes, edges, relief, bends, threads or precision features while keeping assembly and finishing access in mind.

STEP 05

Polishing & decoration

Prepare the surface, polish reachable areas, engrave/logo, set stones, add texture or assemble components.

STEP 06

Gold PVD vacuum plating

For gold-tone products, apply the approved real 18K gold PVD vacuum-plated finish. Our typical gold layer specification is 0.03–0.06 μm.

STEP 07

Assembly & inspection

Check appearance, function, component security, finish consistency and the agreed specification before packing.

STEP 08

Bulk repeatability

Production is controlled around the approved sample/specification so reorders can follow the same commercial target.

Why we avoid publishing one universal MOQ: a ready-stock 304 component and a dedicated 316/316L custom component are not the same sourcing problem. Tooling, material availability, dimensions, stone setting and finish can change the economically realistic quantity.
03 · Surface Finish

Real 18K gold PVD vacuum plating is a process specification.

Gold tone should not be treated as a simple “color.” The substrate condition, surface preparation, PVD vacuum plating system, geometry and final gold layer all affect the result.

0.03–0.06 μm

Typical real 18K gold PVD vacuum plating thickness used in our production, depending on the product geometry and production requirements.

Material choice

304 is common. 316/316L is a higher-spec option — with a commercial tradeoff.

Most ready-stock stainless steel fashion jewelry is commonly based on 304 because the material/component supply is broader. 316-family stainless steel improves chloride-pitting resistance, but a project may require higher MOQ and cost.

04 · What Changes MOQ, Lead Time & Price?

Five questions decide most of the commercial outcome.

1. Is tooling required?A tool can add development time and upfront cost, but it can make repeat bulk production much more efficient.
2. Is the material readily available?304 ready-stock supply is generally more flexible; dedicated 316/316L sourcing can push MOQ higher.
3. How much hand work is involved?Stone setting, polishing difficult surfaces, multi-part assembly and detailed QC add labor and time.
4. How complex is the finish?Multiple surface effects, colors, masks or sensitive recessed areas create extra process and inspection steps.
5. How tight is the visual tolerance?The closer the approved target and the more critical the matching, the more sampling and process control may be needed.

05 · Factory Review Before Quotation

What we need from a buyer

For the fastest useful answer, send the design/reference, approximate dimensions, target quantity, material preference, gold/silver finish, stones or moving parts, logo/packaging needs and destination market.
