Jewelry Manufacturing Project Brief Checklist

Prepare the information a jewelry manufacturer needs to review feasibility, sampling, MOQ, cost and timing—without waiting for every technical detail to be final.

Earlier feasibility reviewIdentify risky details before CAD or tooling.
More useful quotationConnect price to a defined material and quantity.
Clearer sample approvalAgree on what will be checked before bulk.
Fewer assumptionsKeep open decisions visible to both sides.
Before requesting a quote

You do not need a perfect technical package.

A useful jewelry manufacturing project brief separates what is already decided from what still needs engineering review. A sketch, render, reference product or CAD file can all be a valid starting point when the commercial requirements are explained clearly.

Buyer note

Do not simplify or redraw difficult details before sending the original idea. The manufacturer should first see the intended effect, then explain which dimensions, surfaces, settings or construction details may need adjustment.

Eight-part checklist

Information that makes a project review useful.

Provide what you know and label what is still open. Final MOQ, price, process and lead time are confirmed after the actual design, specification and quantity have been reviewed.

01 · DIRECTIONRequired early

Product and market

Explain what the product is, who it is for and where it will be sold. These basics influence construction, testing and commercial recommendations.

Product typeTarget customerDestination marketTarget launch date
02 · DESIGNAny starting format

Files and references

Send the clearest original material available. Mark essential visual details and identify any dimensions that must not change.

03 · MATERIALConfirm availability

Base material

State a required stainless-steel grade when it is fixed, or ask for a recommendation based on availability, target performance, price and order volume.

04 · FINISHApprove a target

Color and surface

Describe the finish as a technical and visual target—not only as “gold,” “silver” or “black.” Reference samples are useful when color matching matters.

05 · QUANTITYChanges the route

Order plan and MOQ

Share the intended first order and likely repeat volume. Tooling, component purchasing, material commitment and packaging can each create a different MOQ.

06 · BRANDINGPlan before tooling

Logo and packaging

Identify where branding must appear and whether packaging is supplied by the buyer, sourced by the factory or developed as part of the project.

Testing requirements

Testing should match the finished product, destination market and purchasing question. A material document does not automatically prove finished-jewelry compliance.

08 · APPROVALDefine the checkpoints

Sample, timing and delivery

Agree on who approves the sample, which attributes are checked and when packaging, testing and shipment decisions must be completed.

What can remain open?

Separate decisions from questions.

A strong inquiry is not one with every answer. It is one that clearly shows what the brand has decided and where the manufacturer is expected to recommend a practical route.

Clarify early

01
Product direction
What is being made and for which market?
02
Approximate quantity
Is this a sample, test order or repeat program?
03
Critical visual intent
Which proportions, details or colors define the idea?
04
Required timing
What launch or delivery date drives the project?

Can be reviewed together

01
Exact manufacturing process
Choose after geometry, quantity and finish are reviewed.
02
Final tolerance
Confirm after the design and production route are understood.
03
Final MOQ and cost
Confirm after tooling, material and component commitments are known.
04
Final testing scope
Match the finished product and destination requirements.

When details are confirmed

Use the right approval sequence.

A quotation is one checkpoint, not the end of the specification. Keep commercial, engineering and quality decisions connected through the sample and bulk-production stages.

Project brief FAQ

Common starting questions.

A manufacturer can begin reviewing the project before every production detail has been decided.

Can I request a review with only a sketch or image?

Yes. Send the clearest original reference and explain the product type, approximate size, target quantity, finish direction and market. The first review can identify which information is needed before CAD, sampling or quotation.

Do I need to choose 304 or 316L before contacting you?

No. State a required grade if the specification is already fixed. Otherwise, explain the target market, performance priority, quantity and price position so availability and the commercial trade-offs can be reviewed.

Can you quote before the CAD file is complete?

An initial commercial range may be possible from a clear reference and specification, but a final quotation depends on the production-ready design, process, material, finish, quantity, packaging and testing requirements.

Why should the destination market be included?

The destination can affect testing, restricted-substance requirements, labeling, packaging and documentation. State where the finished jewelry will be sold so the appropriate questions can be identified early.

Ready for a practical review?
