Jewelry MOQ, sampling, lead time & cost — what actually changes the quotation?

A useful quotation cannot come from the product image alone. Material availability, tooling, process, variants, stone setting, finish, packaging and approval requirements determine the commercially realistic MOQ, development route, timing and unit cost. As practical process-based guidance, cutting designs may start around 100 pcs, simple casting around 200–300 pcs, and hydraulic-press jewelry starting from 600 pcs. Our engineers confirm the actual MOQ after reviewing the design drawing.

We do not publish one universal MOQ or lead time. Ready-stock 304 styles and a dedicated 316/316L custom component are different sourcing projects. We confirm actual numbers after the specification is clear.
01 · Four Project Types

Start by identifying which project you are buying.

The more existing supply and processes can be reused, the more flexible the commercial starting point tends to be.

Type A · Most flexible

Ready-stock 304 style

Existing style, available components and standard finishing can offer greater flexibility. For cutting-based projects, MOQ may begin at around 100 pcs after the drawing is reviewed.

MOQ tendency Type B · Modified existing style

Logo, stones, color or packaging changes

Uses an existing structure but adds brand-specific work. Casting typically requires 200–300 pcs depending on the style; finish, logo, stones and packaging can each affect the final requirement.

MOQ tendency Type C · Custom development

New shape, tooling or construction

Requires engineering, CAD, tooling and dedicated components. Hydraulic-press designs start from 600 pcs, subject to construction and engineering review.

MOQ tendency Type D · Higher specification

Dedicated 316/316L custom program

Material/component availability can be more limited than mainstream 304 supply, so purchasing and production may require a higher commitment.

MOQ tendency These scales are relative guidance, not a quotation. A simple 316/316L part can still be easier than a highly complex 304 design; the actual drawing and process always matter.
02 · MOQ Is Often Per Variant

“Total quantity” and “production quantity per version” are not always the same.

A collection may contain multiple sizes, birth months, stones, colors, finishes or logos. Each variation can require separate purchasing, setup, plating, setting, assembly and quality control.

04 · Sampling & Lead Time

Lead time begins when the specification becomes clear.

Repeated changes to dimensions, materials, stone layouts, plating or packaging restart part of the development process. The fastest route is not “rush the factory”; it is remove ambiguity before production.

Important: sample time and bulk lead time are separate. Tooling, design changes, external testing, packaging production and the number of variants can add time outside the basic metal-production sequence.
05 · Lowering Risk, MOQ & Cost

Smart simplification does not mean making the jewelry look cheap.

The goal is to keep the design language while reducing unnecessary variants, tooling and difficult process steps.

Use a shared core componentCreate variety through stones, charms or engraving without redesigning the whole structure. Prioritize one finish firstValidate demand in gold or silver before splitting the first order across many finishes. Common commercial questions

Why can’t all colors and sizes share one total MOQ?

Because each variation can require separate material/component purchasing, setup, finishing, assembly and inspection. We first check which steps can genuinely be combined.

Can a ready-stock product have a lower MOQ than a custom product?

Usually it is more flexible because the component and process already exist, but logo, finish, stones or packaging can introduce their own minimums.

Why does 316/316L usually require a higher MOQ?

Material and component availability is often more limited than mainstream 304 ready-stock supply, so dedicated purchasing or production may be required.

Can I pay for tooling and order only a very small quantity?

Tooling payment and production MOQ solve different cost problems. Even when tooling is paid separately, material purchasing, setup, processing and quality control may still require a minimum batch.

How can I receive an accurate lead time?

Confirm the design, quantity per variant, material, finish, stones, packaging and approval requirements. We can then map the real sample and bulk-production sequence.

Can you quote from an AI image?

We can provide an initial feasibility direction, but a reliable production quotation may require dimensions, engineered details and a confirmed process. See our AI design guide.
